Cabins, Boutique Stays & Short-Term Rentals: Interior Photography in Blue Ridge, Helen, Dahlonega & the Smokies

A cabin outside Blue Ridge, a wine-country cottage near Dahlonega, a riverside A-frame in Helen, a boutique inn in the Smokies: North Georgia and the mountains just beyond it have become one of the busiest short-term rental regions in the country. The owners I meet have poured real thought into these places. What most of them have not done yet is photograph them like the hospitality properties they are.

Guests book with their eyes

On Airbnb and Vrbo, your listing photos are your storefront. Guests are scrolling past dozens of cabins that all claim a hot tub and a mountain view. The one they open is the one whose first photo makes them feel the weekend: the porch in evening light, the fire going, the big windows looking into the trees. Clear, warm, well-composed images do not just get more clicks. They let you charge what the property is actually worth, and they attract the kind of guest who takes care of it.

How I photograph a rental

I approach a rental the way I approach a boutique hotel. I photograph the hero spaces at the right time of day: the living room when the light comes through the windows, the deck and hot tub at dusk, the exterior at twilight with every lamp on. I make sure the beds are dressed, the kitchen is styled but not staged to death, and the amenities guests care about, the game room, the fire pit, the view, are each given a photo that answers their question. I also make a few detail frames of the things that give the place character: the local pottery, the quilt, the trail map on the wall.

The mountain circuit

I am based in Atlanta and regularly work in Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Helen, Dahlonega, Clayton, and around Lake Blue Ridge and Lake Burton, and I cross into the Smokies on the Tennessee and North Carolina side for owners with cabins near Gatlinburg, Bryson City, and Asheville.
